I can’t hear myself?
Run a Speaker Test
- Go to the Speaker menu and click “Start Speaker Test”.
- You should see an orange bar moving denoting sound and hear the recording in your speakers.
- If you see the bars but don’t hear anything, check your system volume settings or, if your are using external speakers, check to make your speaker is plugged into the correct jack
- If you don’t see the bars moving select a different audio device from the drop down menu and run the speaker test again
Run a Microphone Test
- Go to the Microphone menu and click “Start Microphone Test”.
- You should see an orange bar moving denoting that sound is being detected by your microphone.
- If you see the bars but don’t hear anything, review the “Run Speaker Test”
- If you don’t see the bars moving:
a. Check to make your Microphone is plugged into the right jack then test again b. If you still don’t see the bars moving or hear anything, select a different audio device from the drop down menu and run the microphone test again c. If you’re still unable to hear sound, contact Dell Video Chat Support

Usually this means the source of the problem is with other party is (ie the other party is having transmission difficulties). In such cases, refer them to the “I can’t hear myself?” or “The other party can not hear me?” section.
- If you also are unable to hear yourself, refer to the “I can’t hear myself?” section
- If you are able to hear yourself, then the source of the problem is with other party. Refer them to the “I can’t hear myself?” section.
