Internet Connection Settings
|
 |
|
Tips to Remember:
- Broadband service is recommended over other internet access services.
- You AND your participants' connection speeds directly impact your video experience.
- The lowest connection speed among your participants is the speed at which your call will take place.
- Slower connection speeds result in fuzzy or paused video AND choppy audio.
What You Can Control:
- You specify what speed you want Dell Video Chat to upload information and download information.
- Your PC processor and home/business network equipment (e.g. router) speeds matter.
- If you don't know, don't worry, tell Dell Video Chat you don't know as you are setting up your connection settings in the setup wizard and Dell Video Chat will do the rest.
How Dell Video Chat helps:
- Dell Video Chat's patented technology adjusts the size of video/audio bits while you're in call, so that you get the best call possible given the connection speeds at hand.
- Unfortunately, Dell Video Chat is at the mercy of any one of the participants' ISP bandwidth and quality of service.

- There are "open-air" microphones that can eliminate echoes and work as well as headsets.

- Always using a headset or echo cancelling microphones optimizes your experience.
How Dell Video Chat helps:
- Dell Video Chat's setup wizard walks you through step by step in configuring your headset or speakers/microphone for best sound quality.
- Dell Video Chat adjusts the size of video/audio bits while you’re in call, so that you get the best call possible given the connection speeds at hand.

- Setup your webcam before installing Dell Video Chat.

Are You Video Ready?
|
 |
|
Tips to Remember:
- Lots of light, having a window in the room isn't always enough...sometimes you need to turn on a light behind your camera to shine a light on things.
- Position yourself in the middle of your video screen so that your face is the centerpiece.
- Be close enough to the camera so you can see your eyes in the video...this is about face to face communications. People want to see your expression!
- Make your background interesting...a white wall background washes you out...and clean up that room!
- Wear solid colors, sometimes those stripes can dizzy your friends. White makes you look washed out...add some color to your wardrobe
- Handwavers, time to maintain yourselves. Keep an even keel or your participant will get dizzy!
